As the granddaughter of Holocaust victims and daughter of Holocaust survivors, the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting on Shabbat brings back the most daunting feeling of loss and anger that will never go away (“Debate On Guns In Synagogues As Squirrel Hill Limps Toward Healing,” Nov. 2).

However, the talk of the death penalty awakes the same kind of feelings and that of alienation: of being a stranger in my country as well. Please, people, stand up against government-sponsored killing.
