JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel has made it more difficult for foreigners to enter the country if they have ties to the West Bank, an Israeli newspaper reported.
Foreign nationals from mainly Western countries who have family, work or academic ties in the West Bank who enter from Jordan via the Allenby Bridge are now restricted in their movements to "the Palestinian Authority only," the daily Ha’aretz reported Thursday.
The Palestinian Authority has civilian control over 40 percent of the West Bank, known as Areas A and B.
The restrictions are in breach of the Oslo Accords, Ha’aretz reported. The 1995 Oslo II agreement, according to the Israeli daily, states that citizens of countries that have diplomatic ties with Israel may enter the West Bank and the Gaza Strip on their Israeli visa and a valid passport.
