JERUSALEM (JTA) — Thousands of Egyptians gathered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square to protest the verdict in the case against former president Hosni Mubarak.
The demonstrations Sunday came a day after Mubarak was found guilty as an accomplice in the killing of protestors during last year’s uprisings against his regime. His his sons were found innocent of corruption and six top police officials were also found innocent.
Tahrir Square was the main site of the uprising in January 2011 that deposed Mubarak after a more than 30-year-reign.
Mubarak reportedly had heart trouble on the way to Tora Prison and was admitted to the prison’s hospital upon arrival.
