At AIPAC, Harry Reid sticks it to Obama

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.), the Senate majority leader, is speaking to the AIPAC policy conference.

He’s getting the usual applause lines — no funding for a Palestinian government that includes terrorists, enforce Iran sanctions.

But this one was a surprise for the brutality of its allusion to President Obama’s statement last week calling for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations to be based on the 1967 borders, with land swaps:

No one should set premature parameters about the borders, about building, about anything else.

That’s extraordinary, not only for the implicit rebuke to Obama, but also for including "building," a reference, presumably, to settlement expansion.

The line got a standing ovation.
