More than 1500 persons attended a service of thanksgiving last night for the rescue of the Air France hostages by Israeli commandos. The service, sponsored by the Canadian Zionist Federation, was held at Beth Tzedek Synagogue. The meeting was addressed by two rabbis, J.B. Friedberg and David Monson. Cantor Lois Danto recited El Mole Rachamim for the three hostages and one Israeli army officer who were killed during the rescue operation.
Other speakers at the service included CZF regional president Max Schecter, Canadian Jewish Congress President Sydney Harris, Israel Consul General Shmuel Ovnat, CZF national president Philip Givens, Ontario Attorney General Roy McMurty and John Roberts, a member of Parliament.
