More than 150,000 Jews lost their lives in Rumania during the Antonescu regime, Dr. William Filderman, former leader of the Jews of Rumania, testified yesterday at the trial of former Premier Ian Antoneseu and 17 of his associates before a People’s Court. Appearing as a defense witness on the fifth day of the trial, Filderman maintained that conditions might have been worse if Antonescu had not opposed many German demands for enslavement and deportation of Rumanian Jews.
