Seventeen students were ordained as Reform rabbis at commencement exercises conducted here yesterday by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion here. The exercises were held at the Plum Street Temple here.
Among the newly-ordained rabbis were Sion A. David, who will occupy a pulpit at Bombay, India; and Rifat Sonsino, who will serve a congregation at Buenos Aires. The principal address was delivered by Dr. Ellis Rivkin, Adolph S. Ochs professor of Jewish history at the College-Institute here.
