Two hundred Jewish men, women and children arrived here from Germany today abroad the Liner Washington with regular immigration visas for permanent residence. Relatives here posted bonds to insure that they would not become public charges.

Although most of them were reluctant to describe persecution in Germany, fearing reprisals against relatives still there, they agreed that it was impossible for Jews to continue to live in the Reich.

Most of the refugees were prosperous manufacturers, retailers, lawyers, physicians and dentists before Hitler came into power.
