With a flutter of red pennants and a blare of bands the Workmen’s Circle, Jewish fraternal organization numbering 80,000 members, opened its thirty-fifth annual convention before more than 21,000 spectators who jammed Madison Square Garden yesterday afternoon.
The feature of the opening was a parade of delegates around the arena which lasted almost an hour. Carrying placards bearing the names of their respective states, the delegates, who ranged from toddling children to full-grown men and women, marched through the aisles to the cheers of the spectators.
