Some 22,000 Jews have left Libya for Israel since April, 1949, and another 11,000 remain, the New York Times reported today from Benghazi, Cyrenaica.
The report declares that the interior of the country has virtually been stripped of Jews who are now in Tripoli waiting to leave. The Times correspondent predicts that if the plan for taking Jews out of the country is carried out no more than 2,000 to 3,000 prosperous Jews will remain in Tripolitania by the end of next year.
