Three thousand Jewish families, half of the entire Jewish population here, received Passover aid from charitable organizations in view of the growing misery among the Jews in Lithuania.

This condition is due to government measures which result in the gradual ousting of Jews from different phases of life, also to the active Nazi propaganda conducted among the population, not to patronize Jewish stores.

The Nazi propagandists were especially busy the week before Passover among the peasants in the villages, urging the population there not to buy from Jewish peddlers and spreading ritual murder allegations.

In some provinces the ritual murder propaganda conducted by the Nazis assumed a serious character, necessitating government intervention.

A number of Jewish teachers were hit today by a government order urging the reorganization of the country’s school system by eliminating the two lowest grades in the secondary schools and proportionally lengthening attendance in the elementary schools.
