The beginning of the 30th year of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was celebrated today by chapters of the American Friends of the Hebrew University throughout the country, according to an announcement by Dr. George S. Wise, national president of the organization.
The Hebrew University was inaugurated on April 1, 1925 by Lord Arthur Balfour, whose policy statement on behalf of the British Government had formed the basis for Jewish Palestine. The University, with a student body of 3,120 and a faculty of 450, offers research and instruction programs in science, medicine, law, agriculture, liberal arts, education, social science, dentistry and pharmacy.
