Contributions in America for the German Relief Campaign of the Joint Ditribution Committee total $708,000 to date, Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, national chairman of the $2,000,000 drive announced yesterday. Two hundred and fourteen communities have already engaged in relief drives and campaigns are now under way in another 104 communities, to be completed by July 30.

Of the $708,000 thus far raised, $375,000 was contributed in New York where the quota is $1,000,000, or half the national goal. Dudley S. Sicher is chairman and Allie S. Freed assaciate chairman of the New York Appeal. Many contributions have come from non-Jews, Rabbi Wise said.

Funds raised for German relief by the Joint Distribution Committee are expended in Germany through the Zentrallausschuss fuer Hilfe und Aufbau of which Rabbi Lao Baeck is chairman.
