The threatened strike of New York’s kosher butchers, designed as a protest against the high prices imposed by the owners of slaughtering houses, was begun Friday.
Eight thousand retail butchers, members of the Retail Butchers’ Association, abstained from purchasing meat from the wholesalers. Jewish districts in Manhattan, Williamsburg and the Broox were deprived of meat. The association announced that all members of its thirteen locals have undertaken to persist in the strike against the slaughter house owners until their demands for a reduction of the wholesale prices of meat are met.
