A manifesto signed by 99 catholic, protestant and Jewish leaders, made public today by the national conference of Jews and Christians, voices the fear that Nazi coercion and oppression will be “relentlessly furthered in Austria” and asserts that the three faiths “stand together on common ground in defending human rights and liberties.”
Among signers of the manifesto are President Henry S. Sloane Coffin of the union theological seminary, Dr. Robert I. Gannon, President of Fordham University, Dr. Cyrus Adler, president of the American Jewish Committee, and Dr. Edgar Dewitt Jones, president of the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America.
