A Belgian court is slated to hear an appeal Thursday of a lower court decision’s not to try Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for war crimes. In June, the lower court ruled that Sharon could not be tried in absentia in connection with a massacre in Lebanon’s Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in 1982, when Sharon was Israel’s defense minister.
