A British Cabinet minister told British Jewish leaders of his concern over reports of a steep rise in anti-Semitism. In a meeting with the Board of Deputies, the representative body of British Jews, British Home Secretary David Blunkett said it is important for all such incidents to be reported. He added that his department was investigating ways to combat incitement by exploring the possibility of outlawing hate material on the Internet.

Israel was ranked third among 25 emerging markets in an economic survey. The Jewish state’s gross domestic product per capita is third, trailing only Hong Kong and Singapore, according to The Economist magazine.
