A businessman friend of Ariel Sharon was charged with bribing the prime minister before he took office. According to the indictment served at Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, David Appel paid then-Foreign Minister Sharon and his son Gilad $3 million in the late 1990s to help Appel’s bid to buy a Greek resort island.
