A congressional committee wants the United States to emulate Israel in arming airliners with missile defense. The aviation subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives’ transportation committee approved a bill Thursday requiring U.S. aviation authorities to expedite systems that would defend airliners from shoulder-held missiles. The subcommittee chairman, Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), cited Israel’s arming of its airliners.
