A delegation of Libyan Jews living in Italy met with Muammar Gadhafi. The Libyan government invited the group to forge ties and determine compensation for abandoned and decrepit Jewish communal property in Libya, said Stanley Urman, executive director of Justice for Jews from Arab Countries. Leone Paserman, president of Rome’s Jewish community and a member of the delegation, called the trip “an important opening” and said Gadhafi had welcomed the delegation with honor.
