A dovish U.S. Jewish group is calling on the president to impose an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon. “Israel’s bombing of Beirut and other Lebanese civilian areas, and Hezbollah’s rocket attacks on Israel, both violate all moral and ethical standards of legitimate self-defense that are held by my own religious community and all others that I know,” says the draft letter the Philadelphia-based Shalom Center is asking its members to send to lawmakers.
