A French court reinstated a Holocaust denier’s academic degrees. Jean Plantin initially obtained master’s degrees from the University of Lyon for two studies he wrote in the early 1990s denying that 6 million Jews were killed by the Nazis. However, when Plantin was convicted and sentenced in 2000 for denying crimes against humanity, the university withdrew the degrees on the grounds that they had been achieved as a result of an administrative fault.
