A French Jewish leader is being investigated for allegedly defaming a Trotskyist group. Roger Cukierman, president of the CRIF umbrella organization of French Jews, said he regards the civil action brought against him by the Revolutionary Communist League as an attempt to deal legally with “what should be a political matter.” In January, Cukierman attacked what he termed the league’s “insensitivity” toward the Jewish community, which he said stemmed from the group’s “anti-Zionist stance.”
