A. J. C. Council Drafts Plan to Protect Reich Brethren

A program of action to be taken to protect the lives of German Jews, in the light of the attacks upon them last Monday and the subsequent outrage Tuesday at Wannsee, was submitted yesterday by the American Jewish Congress to the Joint Consultative Council and to the Jewish Labor Committee, with a view to enlisting the cooperation of the latter and of the American Jewish Committee and the B’nai B’rith.

The action followed a special meeting of the governing council of the American Jewish Congress Tuesday afternoon at the offices of the organization in the Chanin Building.

At the same time the governing council issued a statement concerning its serious concern with the developments in Nazi Germany and expressing conviction that the time has come when the United States government may be called upon to make official representations to the German government with regard to its inhuman policies. The view is expressed that our government, which has demonstrated its concern for the preservation of fundamental human rights in connection with the Italian-Ethopian conflict, can do no less where Hitler Germany is concerned.
