A Jewish bus driver was awarded $20,000 from a Los Angeles transit agency that had refused him time off for Shabbat and Jewish holidays. The award results from a religious discrimination suit brought by the U.S. Justice Department last year on behalf of Henry Asher, 56, against the L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
