A Jewish woman and her Orthodox son were the victims of an anti-Semitic attack in Melbourne.
Ester Weiss, 54, and her son, Sharon, were punched in the head Dec. 15 by two youths who hurled anti-Semitic abuse at them. The attack took place in a Jewishly populated area.
Weiss said the assailants also threw her son’s yarmulke away.
Police are seeking the two youths, who left their bicycles at the scene.
Weiss urged authorities to install security cameras on the street.
“Do you know how many times I’ve gone past kids who yell ‘Heil Hitler’?’†she told the Herald Sun newspaper. “I’m going to make people see that this is happening. I feel embarrassed that my kids and my grandchildren will have to suffer. Enough is enough.â€
Earlier this year an Orthodox Jewish man was beaten with a baseball bat. In a separate incident, another Orthodox Jewish man was punched in the face on the same street.
