A Knesset member from Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s One Israel bloc asked police to launch an investigation into suspicions that Israeli and French banks conspired in a election money-laundering scheme on behalf of the Likud Party and former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Likud says Colette Avital’s allegations are meant to distract attention from an ongoing investigation into the fund-raising practices of One Israel in last year’s election campaign.
