A Lithuanian judge ordered that a 93-year-old man be tried in absentia on war crimes charges. Kazys Gimzauskas is suspected of having handed scores of Jews over to death squads in the capital of Vilnius during World War II, when he was deputy head of the Nazi-sponsored Lithuanian security police, known as the Saugumas.
