A man was sentenced to 40 months in jail for an arson that destroyed a Montreal Jewish school’s library. Sleiman Elmerhebi, who said anger over events in the Middle East drove him to burn down the library at the United Talmud Torah school in April 2004, must serve the next two years in prison in addition to time already served.
