A New York Times columnist called for the resignation of the national director of the Anti-Defamation League because of his involvement in President Clinton’s pardon of financier Marc Rich. William Safire wrote that Abraham Foxman, who lobbied on behalf of Rich and whose organization has received $250,000 from the billionaire, should resign “to demonstrate that ethical blindness has consequences.”
