A Palestinian Authority court sentenced two men to death for spying for Israel.
The three-judge Jenin court on Tuesday ordered the two Palestinians to be executed by firing squad after finding them guilty of treason for helping Israeli security forces track terrorists.
Palestinian vigilantes regularly execute so-called “collaborators” but Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has yet to sign off on a death sentence handed down by one of his courts.
The Palestinian Authority has come under international censure for its handling of alleged spies, given the lack of due process of law in the trials against them.
Many Israelis see such individuals as important assets in the fight against terrorism and question why they would be hounded by a Palestinian Authority that wants to persuade the West of its security credentials.
