A planned film about the 1981 assassination of Anwar Sadat by Islamic fundamentalists was banned by Egyptian censors. No explanation was given for the rejection of the screenplay, based on the book “The Assassination of a President.” Omar Sharif was to play the defense lawyer for the four killers, who were executed in 1982.
