A prominent New York politician entered the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, just days ahead of Israel’s withdrawal from the territory. State Assemblyman Dov Hikind declined to comment on how he managed to get into Gaza, which Israel has declared a closed military zone, though he said he plans to stay at least until Tisha B’Av, the Jewish fast day that begins Saturday night.
