A prominent Palestinian human rights activist called on Yasser Arafat and other leading Palestinians to resign. Bassem Eid, executive director of the Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group, said Tuesday he did not believe Arafat and other officials in the Palestinian Authority are capable of carrying out reforms to root out corruption and ease 22 months of Israeli-Palestinian violence.
