A proposed canal linking the Red Sea and Dead Sea would increase the risk of an earthquake, an Egyptian official said. Ahmed Ali Fadel made his comments Tuesday. Jordan, Israel and the Palestinians signed an agreement earlier this year to examine the idea of building a canal, which would help prevent the Dead Sea from drying up and alleviate the region’s ongoing water crisis.
