A top Egyptian Muslim cleric said suicide attacks on Jewish settlements are “one of the highest forms of martyrdom.” The semi-official al-Ahram newspaper quoted cleric Ahmed Tayyeb as making the comment Monday. Tayyeb is Egypt’s official mufti, responsible for issuing religious opinions, or fatwas, on issues concerning Muslims.
