A top Pentagon official told an Arab television station that the Iraq war is not being fought for Israel’s benefit. “The issue of the criminal regime in Baghdad is, unfortunately, I have to say, not one that the Israeli government has put at the top of its agenda,” Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz told the Al Arabiya satellite channel last week. “This is not an Israeli issue. This is an American issue.”
