A Ukrainian official pledged to help the Jewish community reclaim ownership of dozens of Torah scrolls confiscated during Communist rule. Victor Bondarenko, head of Ukraine’s State Committee on Religious Affairs, made the promise last week during a conference on religious freedom in Kiev.
