Abba S. Eban, Israel Minister without Portfolio and former Ambassador to the United States, was elected honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences this weekend. The only other Israelis ever to have been named to membership in the Academy were the late President Chiam Weizmann and the late Professor Joseph Klausner of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
