Abdel Aziz Rantissi was named to replace the late Sheik Ahmed Yassin as leader of Hamas. “We will fight them everywhere. We will hit them everywhere. We will chase them everywhere. We will teach them lessons in confrontation,” Rantissi, a physician, said of Israel while accepting the post during an outdoor demonstration in Gaza. Immediately after the rally Rantissi, 57, went into hiding to escape possible assassination by Israel.
