tire Jewish press of Poland, including the Haint and the Moment, the leading Jewish dailies of Warsaw, today expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the Histadruth plebiscite in Palestine on the peace agreements concluded between Ben-Guiron and Jabotinsky.
Hope is expressed in these articles that the Actions Committee will at its present session in Jerusalem do everything possible to avoid the unfavorable consequences of this plebiscite and not to permit new confusion in the Zionist ranks.
SEES ROUND-TABLE PARLEY LAST HOPE OF ZIONISM
“A round-table conference is the last chance to save Zionism and the Yishub from utter disruption.” This was the comment of Vladimir Jabotinsky, Revisionist leader, in a statement issued from Chicago, where he is lecturing, on the report of the failure of the Histadruth to ratify the peace agreement signed by David Ben-Gurion and himself.
Mr. Jabotinsky regards two of the pacts, one prohibiting violence and libel, and the other suspending the ban on Betar certificates in exchange for the suspension of the boycott of the Keren Hayesod and the Jewish National Fund are still formally valid, but “believes their efficacy is now seriously jeopardized.”
“The defeat of practically the whole old-time leadership of the Histadruth and the Mapai,” said Mr. Jabotinsky, “indicates that Socialist labor is definitely dominated by a wing that rejects Social conciliation and is determined on class war. This is the attitude of the group now desperately striving for totalitarian dictatorship over the Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency, the distribution of certificates, and also over the entire organization of the Yishub from colony councils to the municipal council of Tel Aviv and the Vaad Leumi.”
