Dr. Konrad Adenauer, West Germany’s Chancellor, will “attempt to convince” Dr. Theodor Oberlaender, Minister for Refugees to resign from the Cabinet, it was indicated here today. Dr. Oberlaender is charged with having participated in the mass slaughter of Jews and Poles under the Nazi occupation of Lwow. Poland, in 1941.

Dr. Oberlaender surprised political circles here this weekend by retracting a previous indication that he would resign. He told Eugen Gerstenmaier. Speaker of the Bundestag, lower house of Parliament, that he would resign “only after I am completely rehabilitated.”
