The Brazilian government’s decision to allow an international terrorist organization to open an office in its capital was denounced by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith.
Abraham Foxman, ADL’s associate national director and head of the agency’s International Affairs Division, said the opening of an office by the Palestine Liberation Organization in Brasilia serves "only to legitimize and aid international terrorism."
Deploring the Brazilian government’s "giving in" to political and economic pressures by Arab states, he called it "particularly disturbing, considering the PLO’s avowed role in supporting subversive and terrorist groups in Latin America."
The office opening followed shortly after a three day PLO sponsored conference in Sao Paulo, attended by several hundred Palestinian representatives from 18 Latin American countries.
