Thirty thousand pounds were raised for the Agudath Israel Fund at the closing session of the “Knesioa” (congress), The “Rebbe” of Tchertkow announced a contribution of fifteen million Kronen, while the “Gerer Rebbe” gave a hundred million Polish Marks.
Delegate Silberstein declared that “Zionism is bankrupt and Socialism is misleading the Jewish workers”. He urged that the Agudah prepare labor literature written from a religious viewpoint.
The proposal to establish an international labor Agudah, as an affiliated body of the Agudath Israel, was adopted after the Rabbinical Council let it be known it approved it.
In a speech closing the “Knesiah”, Rabbi Rosenheim of Frankfurt declared that none were entitled to speak for the Jewish people without consulting the Agudah. The Congress was officially closed with a touching address on present world conditions as affecting Jewry by the famous “Chofetz Chaim” of Radom.
The Congress was adjourned amidst scenes of ecstacy, in which Chassidic dancing and singing were a feature.
