Agudath Israel of America called on Jordan’s King Abdullah II to repudiate the message in an anti-Semitic television series. In a letter to the king thanking him for pulling the series Al-Shatat, or Diaspora, off the air, Avi Shafran, public relations director for Agudath Israel of America, expressed concern at reports that authorities were “tight-lipped” about why it was pulled.

A photo of Palestinian boys observing the stripping of a Gaza Strip synagogue won a prestigious prize. Marco Di Lauro of Getty Images won the Editor & Publisher photo of the year award for his Sept. 12 shot of two Palestinian boys standing aside their bicycles, watching Palestinians loot usable parts from the synagogue after Israel evacuated the Netzarim settlement.
