Mohamed Abdul Brixius, a friend and aide of the ex-Mufti, has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment, confiscation of all his property and loss of civil rights by a Prague court which found him guilty of propaganda activities on behalf of the German Nazi party and membership in Czech fascist organizations. During the German occupation Bruxius served as a commissioned officer in the Fascist guards corps Svatopulk and contributed anti-Semitic articles to the quisling papers.
In court, Bruxius denied that he ever attacked Jews on racial grounds, asserting that this was forbidden by the Koran, but only for "historical and Palestinian reasons." If he wrote against the Allies, it was because he objected to British imperialiam in the Near East, he said. Bruxius settled in Prague before the war, coming from the Balkans. He had traveled extensively in the Near East where he had been converted to Islam and made friends with the Mufti.
A Peoples Court at Litomerice yesterday sentenced Elfrieda Huebsch, an overscer at the Theresienstadt ghetto, to fifteen years imprisonment. Huebsch’s task was to search all Jews arriving in the ghetto for valuables.
Karl Rahm, former commander of the Theresienstadt ghetto and concentration camp, has been handed over to Czechoslovakia by American authorities who had been holding him in custody. Rahm will be tried by a Czechoslovak War Crimes court.
