Albert Ottinger for the past four years Attorney General for the State of New York, was this afternoon nominated as the Republican candidate for the Governorship of New York State.
The nomination was made by acclamation at the Republican State Convention in session here.
Mr. Ottinger is the first Jew to be nominated for Governor of New York since the late Oscar Straus ran for that office on the Progressive ticket in 1916.
