The belief that the vast majority of the Jewish displaced persons now in Austria who wish to immigrate to Israel will be resettled in the Jewish state by July of this year was voiced here by Dr. Kurt Lewin, Israeli resettlement officer.

“Except for the physically and mentally ill, we will take every Jewish DP who expresses a desire to go to Israel,” Lewin declared. Noting that most Jewish refugees in this country were located in the U.S. zone, the Israeli official stated that “American authorities are cooperating with us in our efforts to move the displaced persons as quickly as transportation becomes available.”
