Allied Servicemen Fill English Synagogues

More than half of all the men who attended Rosh Hashonah services in the synagogues throughout England were in uniform, it was estimated here today. Among the servicemen were many Jewish soldiers and officers from the United States and Canada.

A large number of Jewish soldiers celebrated Rosh Hashonah in the Kirkwall Cathedral on Orkney Island. The Jewish soldiers, brought to the New Year services from all over the island, were the guests of the Christian community.
