Traces of an ancient race which lived 6,000 years ago in Northern Mesopotamia were discovered in that region by an American Archaeological expedition, according to Prof. Speiser of the American School of Oriental Research in Bagdad, who arrived here today.
In an interview with the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency here Prof. Speiser stated that the archacological survey conducted by him disclosed that Northern Mesopotamia and the Middle East was populated by a race which was neither Semitic nor European. It used flint implements and produced painted pottery which is identical with the earliest pottery of the Suza and Ur area.
Further light on the history of this ancient race is expected to be given as a result of new excavations which will be started in September near Mosul.
